Impinging Injector
The impinging injector contains an array of unlike triplet elements, each of which features a straight central orifice surrounded by two angled outer orifices, one on either side. These outer orifices produce laminar streams of liquid oxygen which impinge upon the single stream of kerosene produced by the central orifice, resulting in a well-atomized spray fan of mixed propellant. Upstream of these orifices, two adjacent manifolds ensure uniform propellant distribution to each element. A dome manifold feeds the liquid oxygen orifices, while a uniquely shaped ring manifold feeds the fuel orifices through multiple transverse passageways; both manifolds are replete with ports for sensor integration.
